So the last couple days I have been playing with the batching features of the accelerator. I have been pretty impressed with the Fragmented Inbound Batch, and the Batch In / Batch Out scenarios. Started working on the Create Batch scenario Walked through the tutorial which seemed pretty straight forward. Then went to test the application, and lo and behold to batches!!!. Checked the event log and got the infamous "An empty batch was received with fragmentation turned on information message". So time to start debugging. Thinking that the info message may be relevant, I checked all the parties and sure enough the fragmentation is turned off. ( Sorry never did figure out what caused that information message). Next I checked the directories and saw Inside the Tutorial_BTAHL7Drop. Saw the messages, the acknowledgments, and the batch activation messages. So everything looks good but no batches in the Tutorial_BatckACKDrop or TutorialBatchMsgDrop directories. Looked at the parties again in the BTAHL7 Configuration Explorer. The Batch Definition Looks O.K.

The Batch Schedule Looks O.K. So then I check the Acknowledgment Tab and noticed that there is a box at the bottom that is checked that says Route ACK to send pipeline on request-response receive port. But my send and receive ports are one -way hmmmmm. So I cleared the box stopped and restarted the schedule and voilà the Acknowledge Batch appears and the Batch message appears as they should.

So when creating HL 7 batches to send make sure you check the Route Ack to send pipeline box on request-response receive port and ensure that it is only checked if you are using a two way port.
